More than a year after Mukul Dev’s passing, Udta Teer—the late actor’s final film—is set to be released. The trailer for this action-comedy, starring Ayushmann Khurrana, was unveiled on Tuesday, offering fans a glimpse of one of Mukul’s last performances. Mukul passed away on May 23, 2025, at the age of 54.
Mukul Dev plays a pivotal role alongside Ayushmann in the film. At the trailer launch event, Ayushmann paid tribute to his late co-star, describing Udta Teer as a fitting homage to him.
“Mukul Dev is one of our country’s most outstanding and talented actors. There is a film called Omerta (2018) that was entirely his brainchild. Unfortunately, we failed to fully harness his talent. You will see him for the last time in Udta Teer; it is like a swan song—a tribute to Mukul Dev,” he said.
Director Aakash Kaushik also spoke about his conversations with Mukul during the making of the film. He recalled that Mukul was deeply concerned about how the audience would perceive his performance.
“He used to call me and ask, ‘Brother, when this movie comes out, what will people say about me?’ I can only say that this is not just his final film, but also his finest work. We say this with a deep sense of responsibility. He poured his heart and soul into this movie. So, Mr. Mukul, wherever you are—we love you and we miss you. I promised you that all of India would sing for you, and that is exactly what will happen. That is my promise to him, and to all of you. You are going to love his performance.”

The trailer introduces Bilal, played by Ayushmann, a Pakistani spy who loses his memory following an explosion. In the aftermath, he comes to believe he is an Indian counter-terrorism officer.
The film appears to center on Bilal’s identity crisis, as his Pakistani superiors struggle to comprehend the ace agent’s sudden transformation. Ayushmann Khurrana portrays the character with a blend of action and comedy, while Sara Ali Khan plays a counter-terrorism agent.
Uta Till appears to blend action, humor, and political satire; the trailer showcases several comical scenes that unfold after Bilal is mistaken for someone else.
