Race Technique / PRACTICAL GUIDE
The button input is simple; deciding when to spend the boost is the harder part. Think about the road after the activation.
Confirm the current input
The official help article describes activating Shockwave with a full nitro bar and a double tap on nitro. Confirm the input in your current control scheme. Do not confuse knowing the command with knowing the best moment to use it. A successful activation can still be poorly timed if the next section immediately forces a difficult correction.

Look one decision beyond the button
Before spending the boost, consider the next bend, route choice or crowded section. Ask whether you can keep the car on a useful path after accelerating. This is especially important while learning a track, when a dramatic burst can hide the landmark you meant to use. Avoid treating every full bar as an instruction to activate immediately.
Compare one section at a time
On a familiar route, choose one place to compare an earlier and a later activation. Keep the car and control mode unchanged. Observe the exit position and the following section, not only the peak speed display. One run with a collision is not a clean comparison; note it instead of treating the final time as a precise verdict on timing.
Keep the exercise separate from a universal rule
Different cars, routes and event conditions can change the trade-off. The purpose is to connect boost timing to a visible part of the course. Avoid a rigid rule that Shockwave is always right or always wrong in a particular broad situation. Build a small set of route-specific observations that you can actually reproduce.
